MAINTAIN YOUR GLOW
HOW LONG WILL MY TAN LAST?
Spray tans typically last around 7 - 10 days. Good pre-tan skin preparation, aftercare and skin health will determine longevity of your tan. If you are particularly sweaty (heatwaves/summer months) spray tans can fade quicker and equally if you have very dry skin your skin cells will shed faster.
SHAVING
Shaving strips skin cells and subsequently your tan with it. At some point you will need to shave. Try to use a new sharp blade. Avoid products with oily soap strips. We advise using men's razors or disposable razors as these typically have smaller or no soap strip.
WASHING
Long hot showers and hot baths are not advised during your spray life-cycle. Try to have sensible warm showers without soaking the skin for too long. You will notice a little bit of tan wash off each time, this is normal. Tap and dab yourself dry with your towel.
SOAP ADVISE
Opt for tan-safe soaps. Most self-tanning brands have their own range of shower gels designed to encourage longevity. Avoid soaps packed with perfumes, dyes, alcohol, scrubs and oils.
MOISTURISING IS KEY
Skin hydration is the key to keeping your tan. Moisturise daily. From day 3 - 5 you can use gradual tanning lotions to extend your tan cycle.
FADING & PATCHY BITS
Hands, face & feet fade first - (you can use tanning mists to freshen your tan before you go to bed) Fading will become most noticeable from day 5. Some areas of your body where skin on skin friction, sweat or movement is increased can cause patchy fading. For example armpits, wrists, ankles, under breasts, cleavage and neck. If you experience this, lightly exfoliate these areas with your tan-safe soap in circular motions to encourage an even fade.
TAN CYCLE FINALE
Now is the time to exfoliate and remove the last remaining tan off your body. Exfoliate your whole body, take a long hot shower/bath and ensure all tan is removed before applying fake-tan or booking your next spray tan. It is recommended that you wait 10 - 14 days between spray tan appointments.
